Frequently Asked Questions About DTF Transfers

Answers to common questions about printing, pressing, and ordering

What is a DTF transfer?

DTF (Direct-to-Film) transfers are full-color designs printed onto a special film that can be heat-pressed onto garments of any color or fabric type. They’re durable, vibrant, and perfect for cotton, polyester, blends, and more.

Do I need any special equipment to press DTF transfers?

Yes — a quality heat press is required. We recommend using one with adjustable pressure and temperature settings for best results. A home iron will not work.

What temperature and time do I press your transfers at?

Press at 300°F for 8–10 seconds with medium to firm pressure. Peel the film while it’s still hot, then optionally repress for a few seconds with a cover sheet.

Are your transfers ready to press when they arrive?

Absolutely. All you need to do is cut them out, line them up, and press. No pretreatment, weeding, or masking required.

Can I use these transfers on dark garments?

Yes! DTF transfers work beautifully on both light and dark fabrics. Our inks are vibrant and backed with white underbase for full opacity.

What file format should I upload?

We prefer PNG with a transparent background at 300 DPI. You can also send PSD, PDF, SVG, or EPS files. Avoid low-resolution or blurry images for best results.

How do I gang multiple designs on one sheet?

Use our free gang sheet builder to arrange your artwork any way you like. If you need help, we offer free setup on request.

How long does it take to receive my transfers?

Most orders ship same or next business day. We use USPS and UPS depending on size and speed requested.

How fast can I get DTF transfers in Chicago?

Printholix offers next-day shipping within Illinois on most orders.
